This webinar follows on from the introductory webinar in the higher edcuation series called “Thinking of becoming a higher education provider – the important issues to consider”.
In this webinar the importance of corporate and academic governance will be considered within the context of the Higher Education Standards Framework.
A typical model of higher education governance will be presented as a guide to constructing a governance framework for a new HEP, or if reviewing current governance arrangements, in an exisitng HEP.
A clear understanding of the governance arrangements of higher education providers should allow participants to build and maintain robust governance frameworks.
- Recognise the importance of governance in a non self-accrediting higher education provider;
- Appreciate the distinction between ownership, corporate governance and academic governance in a higher education context; and
- Be familiar with generic models of governance in higher education providers.
